My Favourite Cover , ever. . .

I’ve just came back from the pub and decided that this is the greatest cover of all time, no argument.

Excuse me while Jimi plays the guitar.

And what about Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower? No contest…

When I saw the pic, I thought you were going to say New FADs cover of Purple Haze

  3. JC says:

And I thought it was going to be the Hendrix Melody by Soft Cell…

This is the very track that got me into Bob Dylan, one of my mates had Jimi Plays Monterey on video and after hearing this track on it I went out and bought Highway 61 Revisited. I don't know whose version I prefer – but I love Jimi's spoken bit at 4.57. And his version of Wild Thing in the same set would be one of my candidates for best cover ever – he takes a catchy but fairly limp tune and transforms it into a raging beast.

Oh, and I definitely prefer Dylan's version of All Along The Watchtower, because of the harmonica I think.

I prefer Dylan's version of watchtower too. But what about The Smiths version of Purple haze?

  6. drew says:

SA – The Smiths covering Purple Haze! Thank fuck I have never heard that.

I also prefer Dylan's All Along The Watchtower

  7. swiss adam says:

Heh- it's a sound check and instrumental, no Moz. Shall I post it for you?

  8. george says:

Can't agree with you there. The Swans doing Love Will Tear Us Apart, possibly.
    Still reading, keep posting please.
    All the best.

George, The Swans version of Love Will Tear Us Apart is good, certainly better than Paul Young but best cover ever, well . .
